This work seeks to portray the author's personal experience outside her country, far from her family and friends. A social situation was chosen, a birthday party, where one is usually in a group, to show precisely the absence. Through contrast, represented by warm and cheerful colors, or even by flowers, it is intended to show the hardness of the lack and shed light in an attempt to fill in the spaces and hide the voids. About the title: "Sertão" is a region in the interior of Brazil, far from large urban centers and sparsely populated, known for its arid climate. That's where the author came from.
